Biography Ino Kruysen

foto: From her earliest youth she and her family stayed in Spain (Ibiza) for long periods.

Here she developed a great love of the spanish language. Especially the spanish sense of metaphor with which she has great affinity. This proved to be a factor in her musical developement. During her studies at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague she maintained her involvement with different styles of music.

Ino Kruysen began singing the Latin American song, accompanied by Regina Albanez.
Later she invited other musicians to form a group especially for this repertoire.

In addition to her solo performances as a singer Ino Kruysen has played in the world music formation Kan Kan Tri and several African percussion groups. As a singer/actor she played the role of Andromeda in a production of the Metamorphoses of Ovid. Under the direction of Mieke Lelieveld she played together with Rob van Rijn, Piet van de Pas, Tatiana Radier.

In her search of music for her repertoire, Ino discovered the songs of Silvio Rodriguez, one of the most beloved singer-songwriters of Cuba.

In 1997 she made a surprising radio debut with these songs. Since then many appearances on radio and television have followed.

August 1998 saw the release of her first album," Vals del equilibrio". On this album of exclusively Latin American music, Ino sings songs by Silvio Rodriguez, Victor Jara, and Irene Farera. The CD was enthusiastically received! Silvio Rodriquez himself was so pleased by the recording that he sent her a collection of his songs.

New CD.
Guitarist Reinhold Westerheide and Ino Kruysen have been planning to record a CD of songs and guitar pieces by Atahualpa Yupanqui, the well known singer-songwriter from Argentina, for some time. The final touches were recently made to this new CD. It will be released in May/June 2003.
